Modalities

Full-body massages are generally performed in 60 or 90 minute sessions; however, a 30 minute massage focused on a specific area provides opportunities for relaxation thus providing an increase in well-being, reducing stress and boosting the body’s immune system. Services may be combined for your personal needs.  A brief description of some of our services follows:

Swedish Massage is a basic relaxing full body massage which may include a variety of massage strokes such as rolling, kneading, and percussion to help the body improve circulation. Swedish may also include range of motion stretching.  The benefits of this type of bodywork are wide-ranging and include relief from aches and pains, decreased stress levels in the body, enhanced mental clarity, and greater flexibility.

Therapeutic Massageincludes the use of one or more techniques such as muscle energy techniques, myofascial release, and trigger point to address client specific issues. This process can be quite painful at times, yet the effects are lasting and profoundly transformative. Client feedback during the session is necessary.  May or may not include a full body massage depending on the number of issues addressed and the time allotted.  Appointments may be scheduled for 60, 90, or 120 minutes.

Prenatal Massage is a full body massage during the 2nd and 3rd trimesters that promotes a comfortable low stress pregnancy.  Gentle and relaxing, this is a must for moms-to-be.  Great for baby too!

Reflexology is a unique method of using the thumb and fingers to stimulate reflex areas that relate to different parts of the body.  It is a deeply relaxing therapy that stimulates the circulatory and lymphatic systems.  Reflexology also helps release any blockages in the flow of energy around the body encouraging energy to move freely.

Hot Stone Therapy utilizes deep penetrating heat and/or alternating cold from specialized stones. The physiological benefits of alternating hot and cold to the body have long been scientifically and medically proven. Stone Therapy causes expansion and contraction of the circulatory system, improving the function of your lymphatic and immune systems, and enhancing your body’s self-healing mechanisms. This style of bodywork takes you into deep states of relaxation, releasing stress and anxiety, detoxifying the body, and balancing your nervous system. Stone Therapy may be an "add-on" to most services for a fee.

Energy Work  An energy session will be customized to fit your particular situation.  Reiki, Thai-yurvedic, or aromatherapy may be used to assist the body in relaxing, letting go of old patterns and beliefs, and balancing the chakras.

Lymphatic Drainage

Within us all there is a silent system working to keep us healthy- the lymph system. Without it our bodies would swell up like balloons, swamping our cells with stagnant fluid. The lymph system's impact is so far reaching that many don't even realize that minor aches and pains, low energy or susceptibility to colds and flu may be due to a sluggish lymph system and a compromised immune system. We’ll discuss the anatomy of the lymph system, what happens during edema and how lymph drainage massage can help you, as well as contraindications to lymphatic massage.

CranioSacral Therapy

The CranioSacral System is a recently discovered physiological structure. It is a semi-closed hydraulic system contained within a tough waterproof membrane (Dura Mater) which enveopes the brain and the spinal cord. An important function of this system is the production, circulation, and reabsorption of Cerebrospinal Fluid (CSF). CSF is produced within the CrainioSacral System and maintains the physiological environment in which your brain and nervous system develop, live and function.
